QA Software Tester

Position Location – Orange, CA

As a QA Software Tester/Support, your primary responsibility will be to understand product functionality and the development and execution of test cases for web-based applications. This will be accomplished through the review of software design, requirements, and test plan documents. You will also be working with customers to review issues on the product as they arise. The primary goal as a QA Software Tester/Support is to ensure a successful release of products to our customer base. Your basic activities will include the following:

  • Work with the design team to review technical requirements
  • Review of technical specifications to determine proper functionality
  • Translate functionality into use cases for testing
  • Work with product to understand functionality
  • Testing
  • Test software functionality, verifying data and results returned
  • Report results to the team lead working proactively to resolve any issues

Qualifications of the Position:

  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and create QA test cases
  • Aptitude to execute QA test cases & accurately report progress and manage test cases
  • Experience in Quality Assurance, Software Testing, QA process and procedure
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills
  • Must have excellent problem solving skills Strong verbal and writing skills, including the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with technical resources and business resources

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equitable experience in computer related field

Required Knowledge:

  • Applicant must understand and be an intermediate user of the Windows operating systems (more importantly, Windows Server 2003 and 2008)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word software is a must. Knowledge of database structure and SQL queries is required
  • Knowledge of web application software (e.g., Tomcat) and how to read XML files is required
  • Experience in working with defect tracking software
  • Programming knowledge is desired to assist in troubleshooting issues with the development team
