This page highlights vdR’s PLM capabilities, initiatives, and latest news in our efforts to complement and extend the Aras ecosystem. The three primary ways we help are highlighted below. The "What's New" section of this page will be updated on an ongoing basis. As an Aras sales and services partner,vdR's PLM practice is exclusively aligned with Aras and doesn't work with any other PLM technologies or vendors.

What's New as of July 2018
vdR Establishes Focus on Automotive Suppliers
Since early 2017, vdR has been working with Aras' Troy office to help extend the value of Innovator into the tiered automotive supplier space. In April, Lloyd Rogers joined vdR as a dedicated account manager focused on automotive suppliers and brings with him over 30 years of experience in the industry. He's currently working out of Aras' Troy office alongside Sam Abu-Hamdan and his team. To support these efforts, vdR is developing Aras-based capabilities that collectively represent a complete solution for suppliers. The core functional areas address quoting, advanced program management (APQP), and issue management.
vdR Acquires Assets of EbD Advisors
Over the years, vdR has worked closely with Terry Quan, founder of EbD Advisors. As many of you know, Terry recently (re)joined the Aras team. As a part of this transition, vdR has acquired the assets of EbD Advisor, including two current subscribers: POET and South West Electric and Energy (SWEE). Since the transition, vdR has visited both accounts to address subscription renewal and growth opportunities.

Drilling Tool Manufacture
This account is a build-to-order (BTO) manufacturer that became a Subscriber in May of this year. vdR is leading the implementation which is focused on BOMs, documents, drawings, change management, and project management. They manufacture “down hole” instruments that minimize ecological and monetary loss in the event of well failure or shutoff.
This account is a successful aerospace start up who have recently renewed their subscription. They design, build, and operate one of the largest private constellations of imaging satellites for applications in agriculture, mapping, and supply chain monitoring. This coming year, they plan on implementing MPP and CE capabilities.

Top Tier Automotive Supplier
This account is an automotive supplier of plastic and composite components. vdR is working with them to prototype an end-to-end solution to support quoting and advanced program management. The success of this prototype is a key factor in pursuing an Aras subscription and implementation.
vdR has been contracted through Aras to augment the professional services team at a shipbuilding account. We've been supporting this project since it's launch in 2015 and have worked extensively with Aras integrations to Ship Constructor and Autodesk’s Navisworks
This account is a global Build-to-Order (BTO) manufacturer of optics. vdR is building an Aras-based solution that includes a quoting module leveraging the new variants and options capabilities.
This account is an Engineer-to-Order (ETO) manufacturer of epoxy curing solutions. vdR implemented and supports their Aras-based solution for parts, BOMs, documents, change management, and an integration with SolidWorks via FocusPLM's connector. Go-live was in Q1 2018. We are now implementing project management functionality.
vdR recently kicked off a multi-phase pilot as a precursor to subscription with this global automotive supplier of high-end wheels. This pilot is focused on implementing solutions for issue tracking and document management at plants across three continents.
High-Rise Cladding Manufacturer
As a build-to-order manufacturer of custom cladding (exteriors) for high-rise buildings, this account has asked vdR to conduct an assessment to identify key opportunities for improvements in their product lifecycle from quote to delivery. This assessment is nearing completion and a pilot implementation is targeted for Q3 2018.
vdR PLM Practice Profile
BTO, ETO, and Tiered Suppliers
vdR is specifically focused on build-to-order (BTO) and engineering-to-order (ETO) manufacturers and automotive suppliers. This specialty area is denoted in Figure 1 as the area with a high degree of custom engineering. However, we do occasionally work with build-to-stock (BTS), assemble-to-order (ATO), and configure-to-order (CTO) manufacturers.
vdR’s target audiences are characterized by a common need to capture the product lifecycle, starting at the quote and continuing with advanced project management activities that see the order through delivery and support.
In addition to helping manufacturers address the “PLM Basic 5” needs of parts, BOMs, documents, drawings, and change management, vdR is adding vertical functionality as noted below.
- Capturing product data at the “head waters” of manufacturing process
- Supporting the complete quoting process and submittal activities
- Extending functionality to build proforma profit and loss (P&L) within the workflow stages for automotive suppliers
- Incorporating Aras’ newest variants and options (V&O) capabilities where applicable
- Expanding functionality to apply 8D processes as part of CAPA module
- Developing use cases and requirements for use of native iOS and Android devices to capture issues at place of occurrence with pictures, video, and audio
- Driving feedback to engineering to support “design maturity” insights

- Seamlessly integrating the Aras Innovator Project, Engineering Change and Quality modules
- Automating “percent complete” based on stages within the workflow activities associated with various project tasks
