Liberating CAD Data to Drive Product Insights and Visibility

Activate 2019 - CADnection Liberating CAD Data.png

CAD models possess a richness of data reflecting intellectual property, design intent, spatial modeling, analysis and instructions for applications such as engineering, product development, processes/operations and construction. Most anything that is manufactured and/or built today is characterized via CAD models. This session will highlight the insights that can be harvested from CAD models and applied to various search and discovery applications. This includes meta data/properties, manufacturing/quality details (GD&T), structure and bill-of-material (BOMs), where-used, composed-of, relationships across other media, and graphical navigation (P&IDs). Additionally discussed will be 3D visualization techniques and tools.

Attended Takeaway
Search and discovery platforms are the ideal mechanism to liberate CAD data by-passing the need for consuming original CAD authoring seats and visualization tools.

Intended Audience
IT and data management solution practitioners supporting engineering, product development, quality, purchasing, manufacturing and post delivery support and operations.
